Today we tested the iPhone app "Minecraft" for you. At first, the price of €5.99 is a bit annoying, but at first, you don't know what to expect, and maybe this investment is worth it.
After I started the game, I was faced with a graphic that reminded me very much of the game "Doom" from 1993. Very heavily pixelated, but that seems to be intentional. You walk through a huge landscape made up of square blocks representing mountains, lakes, sand, and green areas. Unfortunately, at first glance, you don't really know what you're there for, but that should change as the game progresses. There are two modes: creative mode and survival mode. In the creative mode, you have an infinite amount of all goods available and are invulnerable, so less demanding. It gets interesting in survival mode. You first have to gather the materials you need, from which you can then “craft” quite useful objects.
The available means such as blocks of wood or stones can be further processed on request. For example, several blocks of wood are created from a block of wood from which you can eg. can make sticks. These combined with stones can be processed into tools, etc. As in real life, it is also about bare survival. You look for animals that you kill in order to get food and building materials to be able to build a shelter. Enemies also stand in your way and you have to fight them.
All in all, a quiet time-consuming game, which is actually fun after a while and, above all, promotes creativity.
Personally, I don't know Minecraft from the PC, but the mobile version can provide hours of entertainment once you get the hang of it.
